Paediatric First Aid

DURATION: 2 days (1 day online/1 day classroom based)
COST:
Open Courses: £125 per person (run if sufficient demand)
In House: £500 (groups up to 6)
plus £30 per head for Level 3 RQF certificate

This course meets and exceeds the requirements laid down by Ofsted, EYFS and SureStart for people needing a 2 day, 12 contact hours First Aid course focusing on infant and child First Aid.

  Course content includes:
The role of the Paediatric First Aider
Assessing an incident
Activating the emergency services and identifying the need to call the EMS
First Aid kits and accident reporting
Recovery Position
Adult, Infant and Child CPR
Drowning
Choking
Bleeding and shock
Anaphylaxis
Bone, muscle and joint injuries
Head, Neck and Back Injuries
Poisoning
Foreign Bodies in Eyes and Noses
Electric shock
Eye Injuries
Bites and Stings
Effects of Extreme Heat and Cold
Febrile Convulsions
Emergency Needs of Children with Chronic Medical Conditions: Epilepsy, Asthma and Diabetes
Meningitis and other Serious Sudden Illnesses

  Certification:
Upon completion of this course, students will receive a Level 3 RQF certificate valid for 3 years.


  Requalification:
In order to retain their First Aid qualification, students will need to attend another 12 hour course and receive certification for a further 3 years.
